iittala's
products are conceived with an understanding of people's needs. for iittala,
therefore, design does not mean pretence, but rather a pure union of function,
form and quality. iittala design objects are tools for everyday use, created
to be long lasting. iittala's roots go back as far as 1881 when a glass factory
was established in a village of the same name in south finland. the company
became famous in the 1920s and 30s by design pioneers such as kaj franck,
alvar and aino aalto, whose designs are still followed today
